Oct 2, 2009 - hi, i was wondering if someone could help? i have had gel nails for a very long time - gel only with NO acrylic underneath and wanted to take them off. i heard that you soak them in pure acetone only and that this would remove them. however, tho it melted most of it off, i still have large pieces of gel that i can't even file off. i soaked them for over an hour and my nails are already very thin after having them. what should i do?? thank you.

Oct 17, 2009 - Unless you have on a soakable gels, Gel nails do not come off in acetone. You would need to file them off, gently.. You don't want to go through and hit your own nail. Since I don't know the Gel System used on you, I cant tell you if hey are soakable or not. ( Nailtech for 16 years)
